Making evidence-based decisions about contact using the Safe and Meaningful Contact Guidelines
The Safe and Meaningful Contact (SaMC) Guidelines offer practitioners an evidence-based practice tool for decision-making, managing and reviewing contact/keeping in touch/family time arrangements. In this training, Dr Burke describes how to use the Safe and Meaningful Contact Guidelines. He discusses psychological factors that are key to ensuring the needs of traumatised children and young people are kept at the centre of decision-making related to contact arrangements across various contexts, including short-term or permanent foster/kinship/special guardianship care, and post-adoption.
Upon completion of the training, delegates will become accredited users of the Safe and Meaningful Contact Guidelines. This allows lifetime use of the PDF version of the SaMC Guidelines. Delegates also gain six months free access to the SaMC Online Report Generator. This generates a summary report that evidences and explains your input into the SaMC Guidelines, outlines the purpose of contact, and automatically produces a contact support plan.
