Introduction to the Staying Connected Toolkit
The Staying Connected Toolkit was produced by AFKA Scotland in 2022 and is underpinned by current research and policy. The aim of the toolkit is to assist Practitioners and Managers to be knowledgeable, skilled and confident in their practice, hopefully contributing to children and young people having a more consistent experience across Scotland.
This workshop provides an overview of the origins of the toolkit and the body of knowledge which informs it. It explores the key principles in relation to permanence transitions and staying connected and highlights some of the key considerations in relation to permanence transitions and staying connected for children and young people who are in foster care, kinship care and adopted. Throughout the workshop we will discuss the training materials and explore suggestions for how these can be used in practice. This workshop is aimed at Social Work Practitioners who support children and young people, their families and carers and their managers.
